I mean, look at ArisHacks and Frognik's XP Weapon Leveling. You might as well just wait for Voleren at that point. An alpha version of the game was released in July 2013, but saw sparse updates and communication from von Funck, with many considering the game to be vaporware.

If someone is going to tackle getting the Alpha back in, I'm sure it's more of a hassle to mod the release more towards the Alpha than the Alpha more towards the release, unless you're making an entirely new game all together.

That's not really a bad thing, Diablo did it, but if I wanted a game that had boring exploration with no objectives to go after and only focus on killing things, I'd go and play Diablo. Nothing meaningful to explore or special items to collect. If I remember what people said of the Alpha, literally all you do is kill monsters and upgrade your character. And dare I say even goals, as pointless as they are. Hold the Control key to climb a vertical surface using the forward (W) and back (S) keys. While Cube World's 15 USD alpha version, released in 2013, was enjoyable in its own right, its successes have long been overshadowed by the fact that its developer, Wolfram von Funck, embarked on. may be better, but like it or not the release version has more features and actually of quests and direction. Not everyone knew about Cubeworld and was able to buy the Alpha during it's ludicrous time frame of two ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weeks, or whatever, so I would consider it highly unfair of them to only mod the Alpha, as much as I would like to have that old leveling system. Our selection of games like Cube World features other games that combine RPG elements with procedural worlds, sandbox and cubes for solo and co-operative. In other words, modders have probably opted for the release version because it's the only version legally available to the public now. A magical time machine to go back in time and purchase the Alpha.
